Undergraduate Students
Numerous opportunities exist for undergraduates interested in gaining research experience by assisting with lab and field experiments and/or developing independent projects. Feel free to send me an email or stop by my office if you think that you might be interested and would like to get involved in our research!
Graduate Students
The University of Denver offers both MS and PhD degrees in the Biology program. While graduate students who join my lab need to be interested in studying plant-insect interactions in general, there are a variety of research areas that I would be interested in sponsoring, ranging from population, behavioral or chemical ecology to larger scale studies of community and ecosystem ecology.
If you are interested in joining the lab, please contact me so we can discuss your interests further. In your introductory email, please tell me about why you are interested in studying plant-insect interactions and any previous research experiences you have in this area. I would also appreciate knowing whether you would like to pursue a MS or PhD degree and what your reasons for going to graduate school are. Graduate school is interesting, engaging and fulfilling, but it requires a lot of hard work, long hours and unfortunately does not pay well. It’s in both of our best interests to make sure you are joining the lab for the right reasons and that your graduate career will have every chance of being fruitful and satisfying. For your application to be considered, it is essential that we communicate before the Graduate School deadline.
Postdocs
I do not currently have funding for a new postdoc in my lab. However, if you are interested in joining the lab as a postdoc, I would consider sponsoring candidates who are applying for outside sources of funding.
